How To make Irish Soda Bread
Aidan from ‘The Phoenix Bakery’ showing you how to make Irish Soda Bread.
Soda bread (Irish: arán sóide) is a type of quick bread in which bread soda (otherwise known as sodium bicarbonate or baking soda) is used as a raising agent rather than the more common yeast. The ingredients of traditional soda bread are flour, bread soda, salt, and buttermilk. Other ingredients can be added such as raisins, egg or various forms of nuts.

as always, Aidan amazes me, his bread is so good and yet he measures nothing! I’ve asked him about it and he always just says it’s experience!
It’s probably closer to brilliance then experience!
Amazing as usual, I did an apprentice day and Aidan amazed me by baking all those breads & cakes and not measuring a thing out, sheer brilliance that comes from years of experience and a love of his art of breadmaking.
I learnt many things but still have to try them out.
This was a wonderful demonstration. Thanks for posting. I’m really looking forward to making your Irish soda bread.
